A traffic advisory has been issued for Islamabad and Rawalpindi in anticipation of a planned protest and a scheduled cricket match tomorrow. To ensure public safety and manage traffic effectively, the Islamabad police have implemented several measures, including the closure of key routes.
Currently, Express Chowk (near D-Chowk) and NADRA Chowk are closed due to container placements. Additional containers have been reported near the Marriot Hotel, indicating possible road closures in the area.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has scheduled a public gathering at 4 PM tomorrow at Tarnol Chowk, Peshawar Road. Consequently, there is a strong possibility of further container placements around this area by late evening today, pending any changes to the event schedule.
The No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the event has been revoked, though all roads remain open for the time being. Nevertheless, containers have been observed along routes at 26 Number and Taxila, which may lead to potential disruptions. Rallies departing from Peshawar after 12 PM are expected to cause heavy traffic on the Motorway and GT Road.
Additionally, a significant court hearing at the Supreme Court is scheduled for tomorrow, with rallies expected to gather in the Red Zone area by 8 AM, further complicating traffic conditions.
Metro Bus service will be suspended between Saddar and Pak Secretariat stations in both cities, contributing to anticipated traffic congestion.
Commuters are advised to plan their journeys carefully to avoid delays. Temporary blockages are expected until 3rd September 2024 due to the visiting Bangladesh cricket team.
