The federal government has officially finalized a mandatory severance package for its employees, according to high-level sources reported.
This new package will be introduced through amendments to the Civil Servants Act of 1973, applying uniformly to all government employees without exception or preferential treatment.
The Federal Cabinet had previously approved an amendment integrating a Compulsory Retirement Package into the existing law. This policy is aimed at employees impacted by the abolition of ministries, the dissolution of departments, and government restructuring.
The new regulations stipulate that any civil servant whose position is eliminated will be entitled to the severance package. Affected employees will have the opportunity to submit their application to a committee established by the Prime Minister within seven days of being notified of their termination. The committee is required to make a decision within 30 days of receiving the application.
The federal government has emphasized that acceptance of the severance package is mandatory. Should a civil servant choose to reject the package, their employment will be terminated under the new regulations. This amendment to the Civil Servants Act has also been reviewed and approved by the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases.
