Rawalpindi District Administration’s plan to launch affordable markets for Ramadan, to support families during Ramadan, Rawalpindi’s district administration is creating budget-friendly markets, known as “bachat bazaars.” These markets will offer discounted prices on essential food items like vegetables, fruits, meat, chicken, eggs, flour, sugar, ghee, and oil.
A total of 17 bachat bazaars will be spread across Rawalpindi, including locations such as Committee Chowk, Hyderi Chowk, Dhoke Hassu, Khayaban Sir Syed, Allama Iqbal Park Double Road, Gulzar Quaid, Adiala Road, Chakri Road Chowk, Morgah, Chohar Chowk, and Chongi 22. Additionally, six more markets will be established in Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Gujjar Khan, and Taxila.
Furthermore, 24 handcart bazaars in the city and cantonment areas will serve as centers for subsidized essential goods throughout Ramadan. These Ramazan sasta bazaars will open on the 25th of Shaban and operate until the end of Ramadan, after which they will transition into Eid bazaars, offering festive items and clothing for children.
Prices at the Ramadan bazaars will be set by the government to ensure affordability. Dedicated stalls for sugar and trucks supplying flour near the bazaars will cater to the fasting community’s needs. Each Ramazan bazaar will also have a designated overseer responsible for managing prices and security, as informed by Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema.
