FBR Prohibits Entire Organization's Media Interaction

The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has implemented a strict ban on all FBR officers and officials, including Members, from engaging with any media representatives, whether print or electronic, on any matters.

The notification from the FBR indicates that the ban is effective immediately. It has been observed that officers have been communicating with media personnel without the necessary authorization from the Competent Authority, which is deemed a breach of conduct rules.

In light of this, the notification directs that only the designated spokesperson for the FBR is permitted to engage with media representatives. Furthermore, officers and officials are prohibited from using social media platforms, particularly Twitter, for personal discussions related to the FBR’s performance and policy decisions, except for the official spokesperson.
