The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has approved the removal of three MP-2 positions within the department.
According to sources, during the recent NITB board meeting, the proposed organizational structure was endorsed. It was decided that a Chief Operating Officer role would be introduced to supervise the general cadre of posts.
The board concluded that the MP scale positions would no longer be necessary in the new structure and thus would be eliminated.
Initially, the removal of the three MP-2 positions will take immediate effect. Recruitment based on the new organizational setup is expected to be finalized by June 2024.
Currently, two officials occupy MP-2 grade positions, while one position remains vacant.
Sources also mentioned that the tenure of one DG NITB is set to end in August this year. Furthermore, it was noted that the Ministry of IT&T, specifically the NITB department, failed to initiate significant projects over the past two to three years, partly due to leadership inefficiency.
